Spread through direct skin contact, having sexual intercourse being one of them, which can lead to the sexually transmitted version of the disease genital warts.

Influenza (Flu)

Influenza (flu) is a respiratory infection caused by the influenza virus. Flu symptoms vary, and can be mild to severe. Some symptoms include high fever, muscle aches, fatigue, cough, sore throat, runny nose and congestion.

The virus is highly contagious and is generally spread by air droplets or direct contact from person to person.

Meningitis B

Meningitis B is a serious bacterial infection caused By Neisseria meningitidis group B. Meningitis is an inflammation of the coverings (meninges) of the brain and spinal cord. The infection can also to lead to septicaemia.

Symptoms can include headache, fever, neck stiffness, nausea and vomiting. In more severe cases it can cause confusion, seizures and loss of consciousness. The meningitis bacteria is found in the bodily fluid of those infected and spreads via direct contact.

Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an infection of the lung leading to inflammation. Symptoms can include a cough, fever, shortness of breath and fatigue. It can lead to serious life-threatening illnesses. It can be caused by a viral or bacterial infection.

Shingles

Shingles is a viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It occurs when the virus in the nerve cells become active again in later life after an initial infection, generally during childhood. Those over the age of 50 and those with weakened immune symptoms are most likely to suffer with the disease.

It characterised by an initial burning/tingling/itching sensation on the skin, followed by a rash a few days later.

Whooping Cough

Whooping cough, also known as Pertussis, is a highly contagious bacterial infection caused by Bordetella pertussis or Bordetella parapertussis bacterium.

Symptoms are similar to the common cold with the difference being the violent episodes of rapid coughing that has a deep “whooping” sound. The disease is most serious in infants and young children.
